Collins Gann McCloskey & Barry Announces Two New Associates
Collins Gann McCloskey & Barry, the Mineola-based law firm founded in 1990 as Collins, McDonald & Gann, has announced that two former Nassau County Assistant District Attorneys have joined the firm as associate attorneys. Kyle Schiedo of Mineola and Donald Casadonte, Jr. of Queens have both joined the firm’s established and highly regarded criminal defense practice group, where they will both be working on state and federal criminal cases. In addition, both associates will also be working on cases in the firm’s growing personal injury practice area, as well as handling cases in the area of criminal record sealing resulting from a change in state law which now enables certain ex-offenders to seal their criminal records.
Kyle Schiedo spent more than three years as an Assistant District Attorney at the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, where he had extensive experience as lead counsel litigating successful jury and bench trials from jury selection to verdict. While serving as a Vehicular Crimes Bureau Prosecutor, he successfully presented more than 100 cases to the Grand Jury, and assisted with research, trial witness preparation, and warrant applications, in cases of felony vehicular assault, manslaughter, murder and attempted murder. He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Hofstra Law School, where he serves as an active trial advocacy coach in advanced competition skills for Hofstra’s Trial Advocacy Association.
Donald Casadonte, Jr. spent more than three years as a Nassau County Assistant District Attorney, where he concentrated his practice in domestic violence and sex crime cases. An experienced litigator, he has tried multiple jury and bench trials from jury selection to verdict. Before joining the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant DA, he served as a legal intern at both the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and Nassau County District Attorney’s office.
In addition to the firm’s concentration and longtime leadership in the area of criminal defense, the firm also has practice groups in the areas of dietary supplement law, steroid law, personal injury law and elder law. Founding Partner Rick Collins currently serves as president of the 6,000-member Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA), with Founding Partner Marc Gann having served as NCBA president from 2010-11.
