Collins Gann McCloskey & Barry PLLC Honors Bob McDonald at Holiday Party
Colleagues and Friends Celebrate 25 Years at Collins, McDonald & Gann as Bob Prepares for New Role as NY State Supreme Court Justice
Collins Gann McCloskey & Barry PLLC joined with longtime colleagues and friends of the firm last night at their annual holiday party – which also celebrated Founding Partner Bob McDonald’s election as New York State Supreme Court Justice. More than 150 people were in attendance as the firm reflected on the past 25 years spent together as Collins, McDonald & Gann – and toasted Bob as he prepares to become part of New York State’s highest trial court on January 1st.
The event featured toasts from fellow Founding Partners Rick Collins and Marc Gann – who reflected on their long history together beginning as Nassau County Assistant District Attorneys and their subsequent founding of their criminal defense law firm in 1990. Highlighting the strong relationship that they have had over more than a quarter of a century — and noting that over the 25 years since founding the firm the three “have never had a cross word” — Rick and Marc led the gathered guests in wishing Bob success in his new role. They also presented him with a few humorous “gifts” from the firm for his new job — including a rubber gavel and antique judge’s wig as he prepares for his ascension to the bench. The party also featured a specially designed multi-tiered custom cake – with cake layers designed as law books, Scales of Justice and topped with a gavel made of chocolate.
In addition to speeches from Rick and Marc, the event also featured a speech from Pat McCloskey – who was the Executive ADA who first hired Bob, Rick and Marc as Nassau County Assistant District Attorneys in 1984. Noting the details about hiring each of the partners as ADAs, McCloskey (who in addition to his role as Executive ADA for more than 25 years served as an Administrator for the Nassau County Bar Association Assigned Counsel Defender Plan and has been an Adjunct Professor at St. John’s Law School since 1991) recounted some of his humorous memories of his longtime relationship with Bob — providing a glimpse into the early years of the partners’ law careers as Bob prepares for his new role and the firm moves into its next exciting chapter.
Last night’s holiday party was an opportunity for guests to celebrate the longtime success and growth of Collins, McDonald & Gann, honor Bob for his role as one of the firm’s Founding Partners – and congratulate him as he prepares to embark on this new chapter of his legal career. As we prepare for Bob’s departure, there have been some exciting recent developments for the firm — stay tuned for details about our continued growth and expansion into new practice areas as we continue our longtime leadership in the legal arena with some exciting news as we enter 2016.
