“Leap For Life” Honored As One Of My Long Island TV’s Outstanding Stories Of 2010
This past summer’s “Global Leap for Life” skydiving fundraiser did more than raise $35,000 for cancer research and the LiveSTRONG organization – it made a great, and inspiring, television news story. “My Long Island TV” – the Long Island television show airing throughout the New York metropolitan region on FiOS1 News, not only extensively covered Rick Collins’ story of creating and growing “Leap for Life” as the first-ever multi-city skydiving fundraiser … but they have just selected “Leap for Life” as one of My Long Island TV’s Outstanding Stories of 2010!
“Leap for Life” was selected (out of hundreds of stories airing on the show throughout the year) as one of the year’s best stories by My Long Island TV’’s panel of editors – who honored Rick Collins and Leap for Life as an outstanding story in the non-profit category. The award was presented to Rick at a ceremony on March 15th – where Rick was presented with a “Certificate of Special Recognition” in honor of his commitment and dedication to the community as shown through his role in orchestrating his inspirational “Leap for Life” fundraising event.
A great cause, a great fundraising initiative, great results … and great TV! The 2010 Global Leap for Life was a huge success in many ways – and all involved remain grateful for the chance to have participated in such a worthwhile fundraiser … and to hopefully help touch the lives of those with cancer through the money raised at this unique event.
